Celebrities Who were Caught Telling a Lie on Social Media

Being a celebrity can’t always be easy, especially in today’s social media-fueled world. Sometimes things get uncomfortable-like when a celebrity is caught telling a blatant lie. Hardcore fans and haters are totally willing to dig deep into a celeb’s feed to find receipts (and honestly, we have to applaud their sleuthing skills in some cases). After all, everything on the internet is permanent. Celebrities work hard to cultivate their social media persona.

So, it’s always interesting when they get caught in a lie online. Read on to find out about some of the most ridiculous and hilarious instances of celebs being called out on a lie.

Bow Wow: American rapper, actor, television presenter, and broadcaster

He posted about hopping aboard a private plane. But an eagle-eyed Snapchat user found him out. Shoutout to Lil Bow Wow post that he’s flying on a private jet then getting caught on commercial. Yes, he was actually flying commercial.

Khloe Kardashian: American media personality, socialite, model, businesswoman, and entrepreneur

Khloe Kardashian posted this picture of supposedly homemade desserts. But the owner of an LA bakery, Sweet Lady Jane, quickly recognized that the pies had been bought from her shop.

We’re not totally surprised, but we’re still disappointed.

Rita Sahatciu Ora: English singer, songwriter and actress.

Rita Ora got herself into a situation.

She tweet "Dropping my new song Monday if this gets 100,000 retweets".

This is a risky tweet, to begin with. And then she backtracked when she didn’t get as many retweets as she expected.

She said: "By the way, my Twitter got hacked somebody is threatening to release new music I've worked really hard on. Nothing comes out until I'm ready".

Soulja Boy: American rapper, record producer, actor and entrepreneur

Soulja Boy posted a photo with what seemed to be stacks of hundred dollar bills. But look closely and you’ll see that they’re not real.

His response?

"I just want my fans to know that yes I was on set shooting a video and they had prop money and I took a picture with it. All my cash is real".

Guess he should have mentioned that in the caption!

Britney Jean Spears: American singer, songwriter, dancer, and actress

An observant follower discovered that Britney had re-posted a photo she found online.

Kristen Mary Jenner: American television personality, entertainment manager, producer, businesswoman, and author

Kris Jenner went a little too far with Photoshop.

Seriously, what happened to Gordon Ramsay?!

Luckily, he posted an unedited version.

Annabella Avery Thorne (Bella Thorne): American actress and singer

Bella Thorne was caught red-handed.

In the original caption of this photo, Bella mentioned that she was wearing faux fur. But, followers found online that her coat was actually made of real rabbit and fox fur.

Justin Drew Bieber (Justin Bieber): Canadian singer, songwriter, actor and rapper

Justin Bieber posted this photo insinuating that he had bought himself a jet for Christmas, but TMZ revealed that he had just chartered it for one flight.

Hopefully, he stays a little more low-key next Christmas.

Kylie Kristen Jenner (Kylie Jenner): American media personality, model, businesswoman, and socialite

To be fair, Kylie did have a pretty strange childhood. But this follower noticed otherwise.

Of all the things to lie about!

Oprah Gail Winfrey: American media executive, actress, talk show host, television producer and philanthropist

Oprah shared the news about one of her favorite things, the Microsoft Surface. But she tweeted it from her iPad.

You get a Surface, you get a Surface!

But I’m keeping my iPad.

Kimberly Noel Kardashian West (Kim Kardashian): is an American media personality, entrepreneur, socialite, model, and actress

Kim Kardashian shared this gorgeous picture from her vacation to Thailand. But Buzzfeed revealed that she had lifted the photo from a wallpaper website.

Shannon Ashley Garcia Mitchell (Shay Mitchell): Canadian actress, model, entrepreneur and author

She uploaded a video of herself supposedly removing her makeup. She was hyping up Bioré for how it gets all makeup off including waterproof mascara. Well, many said that she didn't even touch her eye with the pad. She posed with a pad with old makeup, and she still had makeup on her face.

If you’re going to advertise something, you should at least put in a little effort.

Sean John Combs, Puff Daddy (P Diddy): American rapper, singer, songwriter, record producer, record executive, actor and entrepreneur

He shared an epic photo on Instagram of the eclipse in August 2014. If you are a famous person and you take someone's image, you better provide credit for it, otherwise you might find yourself in a toe-curling situation. That is what happened to Diddy. The photographer who actually took the photo called him out. LA-based photographer Cole Younger posted the photo two weeks earlier and pointed out that P. Diddy had used the image without his permission.

Eleonora “Lele” Pons Maronese (Lele Pons): American internet celebrity, YouTuber, actress, singer, dancer, model and former host of La Voz… Mexico

In a now-deleted Instagram post from July 2018, Lele Pons proclaimed that she had donated her hair to charity. She captioned the post, "DONATED MY HAIR!!!!" Fans were quick to question the decision given the ponytail was clearly a clump of extensions and the hair was colored. In either case, the hair would not qualify for a donation. She explained that she intended to donate her hair but wasn't aware that color-treated hair couldn't be donated. She continued, "So I'm finding other ways to help those affected by hair loss b/c of cancer. This is still a priority for me."

Jenelle Eason: TV personality

This Teen Mom 2 was caught lying on social media when she posted a side-by-side photo alleging that the product she was sponsoring had helped her lose weight and tone up. But as her followers noticed, she really just took off her hair, changed her hair, took off her glasses, and pulled up her leggings a bit. The clutter in the background being identical tipped her "fans" off.

Lindsay Lohan Photoshop Fail

Pay close attention to the way the door and floor warp around Lindsay Lohan's thighs and butt in the photo above. It's like one side of the photo is a regular old house and anything past Lindsay's leg is reflected in a fun-house mirror. Around March 2013, Lohan was called out by numerous fans for posting this awkward Photoshop fail.

Clearly, she hasn't quite mastered her Photoshop app of choice.

When Paris Hilton claimed she invented the selfie and the New York Times was like, “Nooo…you didn’t.”

The man who invented the selfie was Robert Cornelius, who snapped his photo in 1839. The word "selfie" was first tweeted in 2007, and Hilton was not responsible. Inventions aside, we can credit Hilton with making selfies a global phenomenon.

Roseanne Barr

In May of 2018, Roseanne Barr was fired from the ABC show that bore her name for posting racist things about Democrat Valerie Jarrett on Twitter. As if those offensive remarks weren't enough, Barr kept on tweeting. In fact, she blamed her distasteful comments on Ambien - a prescription drug typically used to treat insomnia.

Many people responded to Barr's blatant falsehood, though. As far as anyone else could tell, Ambien never made anyone be racist.

Donald Trump

Despite the fact - the unarguable, decidedly not fake news fact – that Hilary Clinton won the popular vote by nearly 3 million votes, Donald Trump refused to accept reality and retreated into the bizarre alternative universe where he has a strong jawline, hair that is real and not terrifying, and where he won both the electoral college and the popular vote. He claimed there were loads of illegal voters who threw themselves behind Hilary in an insane and hysterically defensive tweet.

Post Malone

Post Malone and Justin Bieber seem to be good friends; Malone even calls the Canadian pop star "a f*cking awesome, great dude.” However, the rapper had no qualms badmouthing Bieber's faith. In a 2017 interview, Malone claimed:[Bieber] has gotten super-religious recently. Real culty... [His church, Hillsong] is a total cult. He’s already given them, like, $10 million... It’s nice to support something you believe in, I guess, but people are spending so much money, and God doesn't care that your church has a f*cking gold roof.

Hillsong's Carl Lentz refuted all of Malone's remarks, though. He said:

"I do not know Post Malone and I have no idea why he would say reckless things about our church, which he has never visited. Justin has not given our church 10 million dollars and we do not have gold ceilings. We do not even own a church building".
